A huge number of Pheidole minor workers was also streaming up and down the trunk, but there was little interaction between the two at ground level where I could see them. Many of the Pheidole workers were moving down the tree with booty: dead insects and insect parts. A crevice at the base of the trunk contained particulate matter and a concentration of workers, and that was the only place I found any major workers. I saw no majors on the surface of the tree. I took a photo of minor workers attacking a cantharid-like beetle.",
