"dcterms:description": "english: common jellyspot fungus (dacrymyces stillatus). this species is found \"on wood of deciduous trees and conifers and frequently also on rails and fence posts, very common everywhere but conspicuous only in wet weather\". [ellis and ellis in \"fungi without gills\"] this part of scotland experiences high rainfall, making damp rotting wood abundant, and the species does indeed occur here frequently, on wooden fences as well as on logs. as can be seen by comparing various online photographs of this species, dacrymyces stillatus can present a variety of appearances: swollen and blob-like when wet, but flatter and more disc-like when dry; also, reddish-orange when young, but yellow in later stages of development. the photograph, taken on a very wet day, shows just a portion of a larger group that was spread along the direction of the grain of the wood (as seems to be quite typical with this species). the common jellyspots were photographed on the same day as (and in close proximity to) a different jelly fungus species: 933073.",

"description": "The Cornell Plant Pathology Herbarium (CUP) is a large research collection of preserved fungi and other organisms that cause plant diseases. CUP is the fourth largest mycological herbarium in North America. We hold about 400,000 fungus and plant disease specimens, including over 8000 type specimens. Our main geographic strength is northeastern North America, but we also hold important collections from the tropics including the Caribbean, Mexico, South America, Southeast Asia and Macaronesia. Our collections include many rare fungal exsiccati as well as many authors' herbaria (Atkinson, Durand, Fairman, Gremmen, Honey, Korf, Stewart, Welch). The CUP Photograph Collection supplements our specimens and comprises roughly 60,000 historical, scientific photographs of mushrooms, agricultural practices, plant diseases, and portraits of scientists.",
