Tony Frates 2017: The \"Scirpus\" species present in this area at Big Cottonwood East (county park) are Schoenoplectus acutus and S. pungens. Eleocharis palustris also occurs in this area along with other wetland species such as Glaux maritima, Ranunculus cymbalaria, Juncus balticus, Typha latifolia and which were present prior to the start of recent restoration efforts. The small stream/creek that used to run through this area (from a spring nor far to the north) no longer flows, but some marshy areas do remain. This collection pre-dates the artificial pond and its boardwalk that now exists north of this point. The area was largely overtaken by Russian Olives a great many of which have been removed in recent years to try to achieve some level of restoration of the area.",

"description": "Records in this database are of the vascular plants and algae (of which there are very few) in the Intermountain Herbarium. Records for fungi, lichens and bryophytes are now being posted to the taxon-specific networks. The geographic focus of the Intermountain Herbarium is the Intermountain Region of western North America but its holdings come from many different countries. It even has one or more specimens from each of the seven continents. The collection is particularly rich in the Scrophulariaceae (traditional sense) and grasses, including voucher specimens of plants used by the late D.R. Dewey in his cytogenetic studies of the Triticeae.",
