"dcterms:description": "english: orthosiphon aristatus is from the family of lamiaceae. the plant is a medicinal herb found mainly throughout south east asia and tropical australia. it is known as kumis kucing in indonesia and misai kucing in malaysia. in the us it may be commonly known as cat's whiskers or java tea. it grows to be about 1 to 3 feet tall and has a very open branching habit with 1-inch dark green, ovate leaves with serrated margins. at the end of the branches are racemes of flowers. when the flowers open, the stamens and pistil extend out far beyond the petals, creating the \"cat's whiskers\" effect. the flowers are most commonly white, but they can also occur in light shades of purple. o. aristatus is used in landscaping to attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds to its nectar.",

"description": "The University of Florida Herbarium (FLAS) in the Florida Museum of Natural\n History contains approximately 500,000 specimens of vascular plants, \nbryophytes, lichens, fungi, and wood, with the earliest specimens dating\n to the early to mid-1800s. The FLAS acronym is the standard \ninternational abbreviation for the Herbarium, derived from its early \nassociation with the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station. The \nherbarium was established in 1891 by Peter H. Rolfs of Florida \nAgricultural College in Lake City, and later moved to the University of \nFlorida in Gainesville in 1906. The vascular plant collection (ca. \n320,000 specimens) has an excellent representation of the USA (esp. \nFlorida and the southeastern USA), the West Indies (esp. Hispaniola), \nand other Neotropical areas. The bryophyte collection (ca. 70,000 \nspecimens) and lichen collection (ca. 16,000 specimens) are worldwide in\n scope (esp. Florida and Neotropical areas such as Costa Rica, \nVenezuela, and Brazil). The wood collection (ca. 16,000 specimens) is \nworldwide in scope (esp. tropical woods). The algal collection includes \nca. 3,500 specimens, mainly from Florida. The Fungal Herbarium contains \nca. 55,000 specimens (primarily non-lichenized fungi and slime molds). \nThis digital dataset serves the vascular plant collection, of which ca. \n2/3 are digitized, including ca. 500 type specimens (holo-, lecto-, \niso-, neo-, or epi-types). The herbarium's digitization effort has been \nsupported by several institutions, including the Florida Museum of \nNatural History, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, National \nScience Foundation, United States Department of Agriculture (Hatch \nProject FLAS-HRB-04170), UF Libraries Digital Library Center, Florida \nCenter for Library Automation, Florida Museum Associates, and the Andrew\n W. Mellon Foundation.",
