It is associated with Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Andropogon virginicus, Aster ericoides, Carex hirsutella, Chamaecrista fasciculata, Eupatorium altissimum, Paspalum setaceum, Poa compressa, Prunella vulgaris, Pycnanthemum pilosum, Solidago nemoralis and Tridens flavus.",

A ca 2 acre, below average quality dry-mesic tallgrass prairie (it may have been crop ground at one time) occurs SE of a gravel parking lot and S of 20th St. The prairie is on a moderate ESE-facing slope. The soil at the collection site is mapped as Galland loam, 14-18% slopes, moderately eroded (594E2), an Aquic Hapludalf. Area is on the Southern Iowa Drift Plain.",

The majority of these comprise exsiccatae, but the collection also includes seed, boxed, and fluid-preserved specimens. The collection is focused on the Central Grassland region of North America, with specimens from the Great Plains comprising approximately two-thirds of the collection. Families with especially strong taxonomic and geographic representation include Asteraceae, Cyperaceae, Fabaceae, Juncaceae, Lemnaceae, Plantaginaceae, and Poaceae.",
