For women's pains and menstrual hemorrhages, the roots are crushed and boiled (they being better than the leaves), strained through a clean cloth and placed out of doors overnight. A small cup is administered before breakfast. This cures the trouble according to Senor Sanchez. One small root is expensive, costing $.25 at the drug store. This anecdote was recorded on the 19th of Nov., 1941 when Angel was living near the Desert Trails Riding Stables north of Phoenix. The Papago Indians (Apr. 29, 1941) claimed that the leaves should be warmed and spread on the chest, allowed to remain over night to loosen up a cough. A direct quote, 'We warm it up and put it on rheumatic pains, then you get good feelings.'",
