"description": "The University of Hawaii Insect Museum (UHIM) is the second largest collection of insects in the state of Hawaii and ranks among the biggest collections in the world for Hawaiian insect holdings. The collection dates to 1908, and as such houses an important record of changes in arthropod biodiversity over time, including the extinction and introduction of species. The museum houses over 250,000 specimens, with strengths in endemic Diptera and Lepidoptera. The UHIM also serves as a center for research and education about biodiversity and systematics for the University of Hawaii system.",
