The terminal branches were occupied by the usual Pseudomyrmex viduus (#2324). Branches proximal to terminal 1/2 to 1m were abandoned. Other ants found in dead branches or ends of some live branches were Crematogaster (#2322, incipient colony with queen in dead stick), Pseudomyrmex pallidus group (#2323, incipient colony in live branch), and Pseudo. viduus founding queens in live branches (#2325-s includes these founding queens and misc. other ants from this tree; beetle larva found in one internode).",
