The collection dates back to the late 1800s, with heaviest collection periods in the 1930s and 1960s. The collection was relocated in 2012 to a new facility with optimal storage conditions. Areas of greatest strength include Lepidoptera, Cicadidae and Cicindelidae. Future project emphasis is on databasing the collection to increase research utilization of the collection.
