"dwc:fieldNotes": "NOTEBY J.Longino: treefall at Carlos and Liddys' house, strangler Ficus with attached Clusia, other epiphytic shrubs, contiguous epiphyte mat. myrmelachista vast colony covered entire treefall. I saw no evidence of there being separate colonies. Galleries were abundant under epiphyte mats, in dead wood, under bark, and in hollow stems. I first found them inside living stems of one of the hemiepiphytes (looks like Araleaceae). They were occupying long cylindrical tunnels that had been chewed by some stem-boring insect. The first chamber I opened contained brood, workers, and several dealate queens (and a few males). The second chamber I opened was packed with brood, workers, alate queens and males. I took photos of these chambers. Some construction was evident inside the tubes, consisting of partitions made of a dark, compacted material. Later note: these ants (collections 0820-0856) are extremely variable in degree of infuscation.",
