Field NotesNOTEBY J. Longino, NOTEDATE 2-May-10: Road edge in mature cloud forest; nearly vertical clay bank along driveway to visitor center; earlier in day I had partially excavated a nest entrance (#6951) and left some cookie crumbs in the excavation hole; on return at night I found a dozen Stenamma workers at the bait; Michael Branstetter took over the observation; he found the nest in the bank a few cm from the baiting site; entrance a tiny turret, otherwise no sign; behind turret in bank were several chambers with abundant brood, queen.
